Kolea Woodworking

From the volcanoes of Hawai’i to the foothills of the blue-ridge mountains, Kolea Woodworking draws inspiration from the morphology of the natural world. When he began to practice woodworking during college, he became a student of the environmental artistry that he had grown up knowing, developing a practice that acknowledges and respects the inherent forms of nature. Being self-taught allowed him to make his own mistakes and find his own voice and style; a synthesis of the aesthetic and the functional: hand-crafted wooden tools, instruments, and companions that will stand the test of time.

His work marries the artistic style of Polynisian design, and Southern charm while drawing on functionality and durability inspired by the bushcraft tradition. What began with rough spoons carved by firelight beneath the stars grew into the furniture for his first home, the toys for his daughter, and a passion for artisanal and sustainable woodworking that has become his own small business. With your support, Kolea can continue to produce quality products that will stand the test of time and help to create memories of your own.
