Greg Fuguet (Fuugs)

Fuugs is a small, sustainably dedicated, locally based woodworking business. The founder, Greg Fuguet, named the business after his dad’s adolescent nickname “fuugs.” In a world that is increasingly plastic, we are responding with commitment to respect, for the earth, for the materials we work with and for each other. Since 2016 we have committed to undoing the disposable market by making durable, sustainable and beautiful objects. This takes place through an indoor studio space in Harrowgate where the furniture is produced and an outdoor “studio” space partnership with Awbury Arboretum, where trees are milled and lumber is dried and stored.

Greg sees the transition of the wood from the form as a living, growing tree through to furniture that lives in a different way. He takes his role seriously as the one who has the privilege to listen and form these trees into their next life, as valued wooden pieces that will exist for another hundred years. Greg attended the Tyler School of Art with Temple University, graduating with a degree in sculpture and has called Philadelphia his home for over a decade. Born and raised in south eastern PA, he has a deep connection with the trees of the Philadelphia area. Fuugs is run by a team of three: Greg, his partner Kristen Snow and studio assistant Rowan Herons.
