Beautifully recorded on 270 pages with over 800 photos and illustrations, the book is packed with interest on each page. Part One has 13 Galleries which present 140 objects, which offers a wide spectrum of types of items, difficulty levels, and techniques—something for everybody. Specifications of size, material, and finish used are reported. The items are shared for inspiration for the turner to pick up to create one’s own rendition (dimensioned working drawings are intentionally not given). Part Two identifies procedures used to accomplish desired effects. Numerous photos, drawings, and narrations describe sequences of procedure by which items can be produced—some are unique in explaining how one can attain specific outcomes. Two unique indices assist in cross-referencing between the objects and the respective procedures. Author Rebhorn brings his 65 years of woodturning experience to the public. As a University Professor of Technology Education, woodturning has been an avocational activity, which has left him unconstrained to explore many facets of types of products, materials, and techniques. He was among the pioneers of contemporary woodturning with design research, a thesis in 1963, and his first book on woodturning in 1970. With fifty years of more turning design and development, his new book is an inspiration to turners to spring into action in woodturning. Even non-turners have expressed much interest in the book as a beautiful publication.
